About Carol & Artworks - The Studio

Carol is a native of Norfolk, Virginia, but has called North Carolina home since 1983. She holds a degree in Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. Her work has been shown in professional juried exhibits in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. In addition, she has had six one-woman shows in Va. and North Carolina. In 2017, Carol created a painting for the American Dance Festival poster, and exhibited her paintings during the summer season. Her work can also be found at the ADF Scripts School in Durham.

Carol has taught art classes and workshops to children and adults for more than thirty years and currently at senior living centers and in her studio in Raleigh. In 1995, she opened Artworks/The Studio in Raleigh, where she continues to teach and explore further dimensions of her art.

In recent years, Carol’s work has been centered on capturing dance movement, including modern dance, with the American Dance Festival since 2003, and the Carolina Ballet. This effort has resulted in a series of watercolors and oil paintings which portray the fluidity of the dancers in motion.
